The first limitation put in place when using a standard roll of
celluloid film was the fact that the number of exposures was strictly
limited. In most cases, a roll of film could only hold 24 or 36
individual images, and once you'd taken all of these, that was that.
Taking more photographs meant swapping the roll of film over for a new
one. Combine this with the price tag attached to photographic developing
and you had a set of factors which placed a severe limit upon the
number of photographs which most people actually ended up taking. The
contrast with digital photography could hardly be more marked. Even the
most basic of digital cameras now comes with a memory card capable of
holding hundreds of photographs, meaning that you can feel free to snap
away at will when you're hoping to capture every wonderful minute of the
holiday of a lifetime. What's more, once you've taken all the
photographs which you want to take, actually turning them into tangible
printed images is now remarkably easy.
Ordering
a set of digital photo prints is something which you can do in the
comfort of your own home in the matter of little more than a few
minutes. The first thing to be borne in mind is that, when using a
digital camera, it's possible to keep track of the images you've
captured and evaluate how successful they are as you go along. Having
taken an image of a favorite beauty spot, for example, you can review
the image via the viewfinder of your camera, or mobile phone, as soon as
you've taken it. If you're not completely happy, then you can go back
straight away and give it another go. Not only that, but once you're in a
position to start organizing the printing of digital photos then you
have the chance to look through them all before you hand over any money.
In the past, you wouldn't actually know what your photographs looked
like until you'd handed over the money to have them developed - by the
time you discovered the mistakes you'd made, it was too late.
By
contrast, printing digital photos is a process which you have complete
control over every step of the way. Having reviewed your images in suit
on your camera and edited out the ones that don't work, you then just
have to upload the digital files to the site which you're utilizing.
Once you've done that, you have total control over the finished
photographs. Each individual image can be printed to a different size
and even on a different type of photographic paper and you can even
switch between different sizes when dealing with the same image. For
example, if you've taken an especially effective image of one of your
children then you may wish to have it copied to share with friends and
family. Using this technology you could order a single large image for
your own use along with multiple smaller copies to share amongst your
loved ones.
The flexibility doesn't end there, however, since
images which you've captured digitally can be used as the basis of a
huge range of personalized gifts. It's possible, for example, to turn
your strongest images into canvas photo prints which, stretched over
stylish wooden frames, will be more than a match for anything hanging on
the walls of a gallery or art shop. If you're in London, a canvas print
of this kind will take only a few moments to design order and create,
and the technology involved means that the same systems apply throughout
the length and breadth of the country.
